Russia threatening new cold war over missile defence
The title is too alarmist, perfectly fitting for a newspaper looking to dramatize.
The Kremlin is considering active counter-measures in response to Washington's decision to base interceptor missiles and radar installations in Poland and the Czech Republic, a move Russia says will change "the world's strategic stability".
Well, not surprising. They have to show some kind of reaction. The ambiguous "active counter-measures" is just the classical line from Moscow.
Now, that last part is sidesplitting. Yes, "a radar base in the Czech Republic and 10 interceptor missiles in Poland" will affect the world's strategic stability and somehow undermine Russian nuclear deterrent?
In the end, Britain may end up hosting the interceptors as a compromise.
Anyone know if the batteries are palced on the Eastern border of Poland and the Chech Republic. I was under the impression that the threat was to the south so the batteries should reflect that.
