So first the French say that its ok for Iran to have nukes, then they try to tax us for not signing the Kyoto treaty. This is going to be a good year for US-French relations, I can just feel it.

I don't know what the French could possibly be thinking but either way this is probably the stupidest thing I heard today. Tactically Iran has no capability of employing any type of nuclear weapon against our citizens. It does however carry the capability to strike Europe, thus why the sane Europeran nations are very involved in this matter.
Maybe France likes getting smacked around and be called a bitch. This is exactly what's going to happen to most of Europe if Iran does get a nuke. It will become one of those
"I make the rules" states. Then it can openly sponsor terrorist groups and terrorist attacks throughout both Europe and the US without any fear of actions by us (Hey we have a nuke! Come and try put 200,000 troops in our country and see what will happen).
The president in Iran is not too popular with his people... only the Hamas type. He was put into power to fight poverty and other domestic issues and instead he is picking a fight with the world. The people of the country are hurting and even the grand Ayyatollah (or whatever) has critiscized him for it.
I personally don't believe we will be at war with Iran... but Europe will (EU) if more steps are taken towards a nuke.
Russia proposed the best plan so far... you want nuclear power? Sure, we will enrich the uranium for you. This was denied by the Iranians... go figure.
Even though France is in no position to tell us what to do. I think we should sign the document with or without the changes that we are requesting which is pretty much make it an even ground for all nations even developing ones.

maybe its just me, but this doesn't seem like it's just going to be about developing nuclear power.
