Why did Iran take the British hostage?

There is always a reason why things are done in the world of international politics. Apparently Iran was upset with American attempts to take a few Iranians hostage so they retaliated.

The botched US raid that led to the hostage crisis

"Better understanding of the seriousness of the US action in Arbil - and the angry Iranian response to it - should have led Downing Street and the Ministry of Defence to realise that Iran was likely to retaliate against American or British forces such as highly vulnerable Navy search parties in the Gulf. The two senior Iranian officers the US sought to capture were Mohammed Jafari, the powerful deputy head of the Iranian National Security Council, and General Minojahar Frouzanda, the chief of intelligence of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, according to Kurdish officials."

When we went after their officials it was for a reason. We had intelligence that they were up to no good and guess what some of those guys were caught with? Iran effectivley made a joke of us and our allies for 2 weeks. "Yea, so, what are you going to do about it?" When Iran gets their nuclear weapon - and I'm sure they will since nobody has the right sense to force them to comply rather they will keep asking them to do so - they will be able to do whatever the hell they want. They can openly send terrorists to America have them kill us and what are we going to do about it?

Iran reminds me of Hitler and McArthur pre-WW2. McArthur tried to convince his countrymen that you can't bargain with evil and that diplomacy won't work. They told him he was wrong and to keep his mouth shut. Britain almost fell because of stupidity.

The pentagon estimates the entire Iranian Navy can be destroyed in an hour. We can have air superiority as soon as soon as we get our fighters in the air. Maybe next time they decide to kidnap soldiers we should blow them out of the fucking water.

"We were blindfolded at all times and kept in isolation from each other," Lieutenant Felix Carman said.

In an agreed statement, the military personnel said they were told that if they did not admit they had strayed into Iranian waters, they faced seven years in prison.

"We were interrogated most nights and given two options. If we admitted that we had strayed, we would be back on a plane to the UK pretty soon. If we didn't, we faced up to seven years in prison," they revealed.

They heard weapons being cocked behind them and feared the worst.

Further proof why we should have blown them out of the fucking water.
